William Ernest Henley’s poem “Invictus” inspired the creation of this sequential narrative. The poem tells a tale of overcoming life’s struggles and facing problems head-on without fear, as individuals are free to choose their own fate. A young bird was chosen as the main subject rather than a human being, because birds can be perceived not only as delicate, fragile creatures but also as powerful beings in their ability to fly anywhere they choose. Watercolour paints and digital media were the two artistic mediums used when creating the frames.
